Julia Xoudis

Professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva


Julia Xoudis studied at the University of Geneva where she obtained her Bachelor degree in Law (1990), a DEA in European Law (1995) and a PhD in Law (2001, Edgar Aubert 2002 Award, Wlather Hug 2003 Award). She also studied at the University of Cambridge (LL.M in International Law, 1991) and received a grant from the Fonds National Suisse (1998-2000) to do a research program at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht in Hambourg. She is also admitted to the Geneva Bar (1993).

She is an associated Professor at the University of Geneva, teaching the introduction to the legal reasoning and to private law as part of the International Relations Bachelor program (BARI). Previously, she was responsible for the course of reasoning practice and legal writing in private law for students of the Law Faculty.

Her fields of competence are competition law (with particular interest on the economical aspect), contract law, corporate law, legal methodology, and arbitration.

In parallel to her academic activities, she works as an attorney at a law firm in Geneva in the field of international arbitration, contract law and competition law.

She is a member of the committee of the Swiss Competition Law Association and of the Administrative Council of the International League of Competition Law (LIDC). She is also member of the bar examination Commission.
